Build Stronger Working Relationships
Help others understand what matters to the people they work with, engage more effectively and build trust over time.
When facilitating a session on working relationships, ask participants to think of someone they need to work more effectively with. Use the Understand, Engage, Build framework to help them identify what to do differently. First, Understand: what are this person’s business objectives, what is happening in their world right now, and what might be driving their behaviour? Next, Engage: where do you need alignment, how well are you listening, and how could you frame your message so it connects with what matters to them? Finally, Build: what could you do consistently, in small everyday moments, and through following through on commitments to strengthen the relationship over time? Ask each participant to choose one action they will take with that person.
