Micro Moments of Change
Help others focus their self-management on the precise moment change needs to happen.
When helping someone change a habitual behaviour, asking them to manage themselves differently throughout an entire meeting or conversation can feel exhausting. Micro Moments of Change makes the task smaller. Help them identify the precise moment when their usual behaviour takes over and a different response is needed. It might be the instant they hear a challenging question, feel interrupted or notice themselves becoming defensive. Rather than trying to change everything about how they behave, ask them to focus their self-management on that one moment and practise choosing a new response there. This gives them a specific, manageable point of focus and reduces the fatigue that can come from trying to change their behaviour all the time.
